We are interviewing Emma tonight about socio-aesthetic
experiences of culture, cultural history, viewing goth as a
culture rather than subculture, and the sociology of design;
specifically how that translates into communities of belonging
especially among goths. Emma is now undertaking a PhD as a
participant researcher. She recently conducted the largest ever
survey about goth, among participants of the culture for that
very project, which is titled Just a Phase? Goth subculture
as an identity constant beyond youth.
