In this episode, we talk to Professor Paul S. Rundquist about the
current state of transatlantic relations from a historical
perspective. We also talked about his transatlantic career,
impeachment proceedings against President Trump, and the ongoing
presidential campaign.

Paul S. Rundquist is a former congressional operations
specialist, who worked for the Congressional Research Service of
the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. for some 30 years. In
this role, he gave training seminars for newly elected Members of
Congress and their staff. He worked on a variety of policy issues
including reform of the rules and procedures of Congress,
democracy assistance programs for emerging democratic
parliaments, the impeachment and trial of President Clinton, and
on the creation of the Department of Homeland Security.

He also taught at George Washington University, Catholic
University of America, and American University, in Washington,
DC.

After his career with the Congressional Research Service, Paul S.
Rundquist became a Fulbright Professor in Poland and Germany.

Talking to Paul S. Rundquist was an incredible opportunity to
learn about the ways in which transatlantic relations are shaped
through governmental and non-governmental action. He is uniquely
suited to talk about both of these dimensions because he
experienced them up close for many years.

It is people like Paul S. Rundquist that shape the transatlantic
friendship that exists between Germany and the US.
