EP14: There is no "I" in TEAM - feat. Petri Matikainen, the Finnish Championship Winning Coach

In this episode I had the privilege to talk with Petri
Matikainen, an Finnish Ice-hockey Coach. Petri has seen the world
already during his active playing career, collecting a couple of
Championship Trophies, including a Gold-Medal with the Finnish
U20 Junior National-Team at the World Championships. Finnland,
Canada, Germany and Austria can be found on his path, combining
quite a few cultural differences and experiences. 


He took a break from hockey after finishing his career at the age
of 32, but could not resist coming back to hockey rinks and was
drawn into coaching with all his heart and passion.


For many people, passion and temperament might not be the first
terms coming into one's mind, if you think about the cool and
reserved demeanour usually shown by people from Scandinavia.


Petri is NOT like that! At least regarding coaching and hockey,
his temperament and sometimes  overflowing  passion are
something that make him spezial, as you will find out when
listening to our conversation.


What goes on in the mind of an Championship Winning Coach? Who
were his influencers and how did he develop his coaching skills
and his beliefs?
