In today's episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with
professional triathlete Matthew Marquardt. Matthew brings a
unique perspective to the world of professional athletes, as his
primary focus in life is on medicine rather than sports. Our
conversation delves into various aspects of his life, shedding

We discuss Matthew's aerotests in Silverstone, the profound
impact of cancer on his life, and his dedicated efforts against
cancer. His 2021 cross-country bike tour ultimately led him to
the world of triathlon, a career path that was far from planned.
Matthew's time as a triathlete reads like a fairy tale, with
highlights including becoming the 2022 Age Group World Champion
and achieving numerous podium finishes during his first
professional season in 2023, including an impressive 11th place
at the Ironman World Championship in Nice.


As we explore Matthew's plans for 2024, we touch on the
significance of his support system in both his medical and
athletic careers. The conversation extends to the importance of
sleep, insights into his coaching relationship, and the
advantages and challenges of his scientific training approach.
