The »Dead Ladies Show« rocks the Droste Festival with three
enthusiastic podcast portraits of women whose legacy demands to be
celebrated. The most charming séance of all time brings us closer
to women who achieved something extraordinary despite all of the
resistance they faced. This episode is about Adelaide Herrmann, a
nineteenth-century American stage magician known by the name of
»Queen of Magic«. Born in London, she trained in aerial acrobatics
and toured as a velocipede trick-rider before coming to New York,
where she first worked as an assistant to her husband, the magician
Alexander Herrmann. After his death she started a solo career as
»The World’s Only Woman Magician«. She toured the world with
dangerous acts like the »bullet catch« trick and complicated
illusions such as »The Phantom Bride« and »The Witch«. Katy
Derbyshire presents this ambitious and enchanting lady and her
breathtaking magic tricks. This is a special, early-release episode
for the Droste Festival, regular listeners to the »Dead Ladies
Show« podcast will get a chance to hear it in the fall. Check back
in September for all-new monthly episodes! The »Dead Ladies Show«
