Henry Kissinger, one of the world's most influential
policymakers, died at the end of November at one hundred years.
He served as national security adviser and secretary of state
under presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. He never ran for
elected office himself, but he was a mastermind foreign
policymaker, Nobel Peace Prize and a very controversial figure.
What made him so controversial and how have historians judged him
so far? In this episode of the HCA podcast, Anja Schüler looks
back Henry Kissinger’s life and the century that was shaped by
him with Jeremi Suri. Professor Suri is a historian at the
University of Texas, where he holds the Mack Brown Distinguished
Chair for Leadership in Global Affairs, the author and editor of
11 books, including “Henry Kissinger and the American Century,”
and co-host of the podcast “This is Democracy.”
