Barock@home Episode 6 - Musik für die Himmelsburg

J.S. Bachs Kantate BWV 182 »Himmelskönig, sei willkommen«
markiert einen wichtigen Punkt in seiner beruflichen Laufbahn:
Als Antrittsmusik zu  seiner Tätigkeit als Concertmeister am
Weimarer Hof reflektiert sie  kompositorisch in besonderer
Weise den außergewöhnlichen Kirchenraum, in  dem sie erklang
- die als Himmelsburg bekannte Weimarer Schlosskirche. Hierüber
diskutieren Hans-Christoph Rademann und Henning Bey im Podcast
Barock@home. Die Gaechinger Cantorey interpretiert die Kantate
unter der Leitung von Hans-Christoph Rademann, Christiane Roßbach
vom Staatstheater Stuttgart rezitiert dazu.  


J.S. Bach's cantata BWV 182 »Himmelskönig, sei willkommen« marks
an important stage in his professional career. It represents the
inaugural music for his position as new concertmaster at the
Weimar court with a very special music reflecting also the
architectural dimensions of the church, in which it had been
performed on 25 March 1714: the ducal church in Weimar, known as
»Himmelsburg« (castle of heaven). In the podcast Barock@home
Hans-Christoph Rademann and Henning Bey analyse the structure of
the cantata’s music and text, with reference to theological and
architectural implications. The Gaechinger Cantorey performs the
cantata under the baton of Hans-Christoph Rademann, and
Christiane Rossbach from the Staatstheater Stuttgart recites a
chronology of the year 1714 as well as the libretto of the
cantata.
