Po “Popo” Zhang: Creating something out of nothing

Popo is a self-taught tattoo artist and founder of
https://www.nypo.art . He joins us at the Gods Of Ink Tattoo
Convention in Frankfurt as an art supplier and brand director for
Kuro Sumi tattoo colors, which was his first love when he began
tattooing. Popo, whose Chinese regional name is Zhang Po, shares
with us his experience as a tattoo artist for over 20 years. He
talks about how difficult it is to start tattooing back home due to
the high prices, which mostly forces people to learn the craft in
prisons. Despite these challenges, Popo has never stopped pursuing
his passion for art. Before becoming a full-time tattoo artist, he
was a school art teacher and even owns an art gallery in New York,
where he has been living for over 10 years. He tells us that when
he first moved to New York, he spoke hardly any English. During the

of collaboration. Popo shares his perspective on the yin yang
