Primary Progressive Aphasia is a language disorder that occurs when
the language areas of the brain deteriorate due to a number of
different neurodegenerative diseases (e.g. Frontotemporal Lobar
Degeneration, Alzheimer’s Disease). Over time there is gradual loss
of language abilities (speaking, understanding spoken language,
reading, writing), but other mental abilities may be relatively
unaffected for many years. This talk will review language and
communication interventions that have been used in this population,
and discuss additional services to support quality of life that
should be considered and researched. | Center for Advanced Studies:
