fiber types are frequently discussed in various field of exercise
sience. Their typology seems to influence performance, training
and pacing in athletes. But... - What kind of muscle fibers do we
have? - How are fiber types related to exercise performance? -
How can fiber types be determined? AND - (How) Can I change my
fiber typology? I discussed these interesting questions with
Freek Van de Casteele from Ghent University. Freek is currently
finishing his PhD on muscle fiber typology and examined
non-invasive methods to determine muscle fiber composition. We
talked about the basics as well as the latest research on how
