Cycling fans are elated when Biniam Girmay becomes the first
cyclist from an African country to win a stage of the Giro
d’Italia in 2022. The film accompanies Girmay over two years on
his difficult path through this still deeply European sport: as a
young talent from Eritrea via the world federation training camps

Biography


Lieven Corthouts is a self-taught filmmaker who travelled
the world before living in Ethiopia for 10 years, during which
time the two feature documentaries MY FUTURE and LITTLE HEAVEN
were made. Together with academy award winning director Orlando
von Einsiedel he made the Netflix documentary CONVERGENCE:
COURAGE IN A CRISIS.
