E36 L’Etranger d’Albert Camus [2/2]

Comme promis, nous lisons aujourd’hui la suite de L’Etranger
d’Albert Camus. Dans la 1ère partie, nous avons vu que le héros,
Meursault, ne semble pas être affecté par les évènements qu’il
vit.


La mort de sa mère, sa relation avec Marie, son amitié avec le
proxénète Raymond... Tout cela ne lui fait ni chaud ni froid. Il
se laisse porter par la vie sans se poser de question.


Mais tout change le jour où il tue « par hasard »
l’ennemi de Raymond de 5 coups de revolver. Dans cette 2ème et
dernière partie, c’est l’heure du procès : Meursault doit
être jugé pour son crime. Nous verrons si le héros est capable
d’expliquer enfin ses actions.

As promised, today we are reading the rest of The Outsider by
Albert Camus. In the 1st part, we saw that the hero, Meursault,
did not seem to be affected by the events he was experiencing.


His mother’s death, his relationship with Marie, his friendship
with Raymond the procurer… All of this left him completely
indifferent. He just let events carry him along without thinking
about them.


But everything changed the day he “randomly” killed Raymond’s
enemy by shooting him 5 times. In this 2nd and last part, it’s
time for the trial: Meursault must be prosecuted for his crime.
We’ll see if the hero will finally be able to explain his
