SPECIAL 9 - INTERVIEW WITH SEBASTIAN SAMUELSSON *english*

[ENGLISH] At the age of 20 Sebastian Samuelsson wins gold and
silver at his first Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. He’s one of the
great hopes for the Swedish biathlon nation and expected to be the
next athlete who’ll fight for the big crystal globe. But the years
after the Olympics are tough for Sebastian. While he improves in
the total score, he rarely visits the podium until the previous
season. With the opening in Kontiolahti he shows that he can live
up to the expectations and claims his first world cup victory. With
several podiums and four medals at the WCH he’s one of the most
successful athletes of the season 2020/21. We talk with him about
his origin-story in biathlon, his goals for the upcoming olympic
season and why he’s so strong on the final lap. This and many more

[DEUTSCH] Im Alter von 20 Jahren gewinnt Sebastian Samuelsson Gold
und Silber bei seinen ersten olympischen Winterspielen in
Pyeongchang. Er ist eine der großen Hoffnungen für das schwedische
Biathlonteam und die Erwartungen auf den Kampf um den Gesamtweltcup
steigen mit ihm. Aber die ersten Jahre nach den olympischen Spielen
sind hart für Sebastian. Während er sich im Weltcup verbessert, ist
er nur selten auf dem Podium bis zur vergangenen Saison. Mit der
Eröffnung in Kontiolahti zeigt er, dass er den hohen Erwartungen
gerecht werden kann und holt seinen ersten Weltcupsieg. Mit
weiteren Podestplätzen und vier Medaillen bei den
Weltmeisterschaften, ist er einer der erfolgreichsten Athleten der
