TroTro Diaries & the power of virtual communities for climate action in Ghana

The power of digital platforms is revolutionising Ghana's
transportation sector, especially for the 70 % of the population
who rely on TroTros. We spoke with Yaw Odoom, Community Manager
and Founder of TroTro Diaries, Ghana's largest public transport
community – an innovative company that is addressing community
challenges by creating dialogue and giving people a voice,
changing mindsets and expanding transport services. With 500,000
users, the TroTro Diaries platform educates and engages people
online, creating a ripple effect as followers become volunteers
and train others for local climate action. This collective effort
gives commuters a voice and fosters a mindset of possibility.
TroTro Diaries has initiated several impactful projects,
including waste education, improving road safety by educating on
road signs, and introducing electric vehicles to the community
through knowledge transfer of new technologies. TroTro Diaries
demonstrates the potential of technology and social media to
drive positive social change and climate action.
