Sometimes you wonder if your life is balanced, in a good balance?
The Chinese see balance in the symbol of yin and yang, which
reflect concepts of Chinese philosophy. It is about opposing
forces that are related to each other, also condition each other.
To keep the balance, all things and living beings are subject to
constant correction, if the pendulum swings too much in one
direction, then it must be counteracted.
Especially we humans have the task to find our balance, because
circumstances, events, feelings and moods bring us again and
again "off course". Of course, this requires first of all a
clearly defined course. What is your path, what do you have
planned for your life?
The symbol of Yin and Yang stands for the relationship between
things and people, also the terms are often equated with
femininity and masculinity, they also stand for the contrast of
good and evil, of strong and weak, of active and passive.
According to the Chinese concept of Yin and Yang, either one or
the other force is more strongly represented in us. The S-shape
of the symbol shows us how fluid life is and how fluid our
balance must also be, how rest and movement must alternate.
So the cosmic balance is represented by Yin and Yang. But how can
we achieve this balance "for ourselves"?
A good way to "knock on the door" of our own ego are two
meditative exercises that correspond to Yin and Yang.
1. simple forward bend (yin)
Sit on the floor, stretch your legs straight out in front. Try to
keep your back relaxed and erect. Breathe firmly but calmly for a
few deep breaths, then bend forward as you exhale, the back makes
an arch, the chin goes to the chest, the legs stay pushed
through, if possible the hands enclose the feet. Hold the
position as long as you feel comfortable (at least 10 breaths).
With an inhale, slowly return to the starting position, vertebra
by vertebra. Repeat the exercise at least 5 times.
2. simple backbend (yang) half moon
Now stand, hands above the buttocks with palms up, bend backward
with an inhale vertebra by vertebra, hold the position for at
least 10 breaths.
Repeat the exercise at least 5 times.
The cosmic balance is within us, we ourselves have to find the
balance that suits us. We humans are never completely in balance,
the "inner center" is a perpetual struggle within us!
Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep the balance, you have to
keep moving
